Chopper Twirls Wildly into Palm Groves at Frequented California Beach

A helicopter hovering over a popular southern California shoreline abruptly began spiraling out of control, ultimately losing altitude and smashing into a cluster of palm trees as beachgoers looked on.

Footage shared online depict the aircraft starting to spin near the shoreline then falling near the border of the coast, where it becomes wedged amidst palm trees and a staircase close to the Pacific Coast highway.

Rescue Operation Details

The Huntington Beach fire department stated five people were transported to a medical facility involving a pair who were in the helicopter and were “extracted safely from the crash site” after the accident on that day.

Three individuals on the street were injured. Specifics on their injuries were not yet released.

The reason for the accident was still under investigation.

Authorities said the chopper was associated with an regular “Cars with Copters” fundraising event planned for the following day.
