Ex- National Football League Athlete Antonio Brown Files Innocent Plea in Attempted Murder Trial

One-time NFL player Antonio Brown is returning to Miami to face an attempted murder charge stemming from a shooting that occurred in May, with his counsel filing a innocent response on his behalf.

Detention logs in Essex County, New Jersey, show that Brown was discharged on Tuesday early for his transfer to the state of Florida. Brown, among the most famous athletes in the NFL, had relinquished extradition to Florida from New Jersey, where he was held after being apprehended in the city of Dubai.

Brown’s lawyer, Mark Eiglarsh, mentioned in an communication that he has earlier lodged a written innocent declaration to the attempted murder charge. Brown could be in a Miami courtroom as early as Wednesday morning for a bail hearing, Eiglarsh added.

Based on his detention document, Brown is alleged of taking a firearm from a security staffer after a celebrity boxing event in May and discharging multiple shots at a individual he had confronted with before. The claimed individual, Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, stated to authorities that one of the bullets scraped his throat.

Eiglarsh asserted that Brown was only protecting himself from Nantambu.

“The steps he was forced to take were exclusively in defense against the reported victim’s violent behavior. Brown was assaulted that night and acted within his lawful entitlement to protect himself,” Eiglarsh said.

Brown was not right away detained because at first authorities did not consider Nantambu as a victim. It wasn’t until subsequently in May that Nantambu delivered a detailed testimony about the situation to police and pointed out Brown as the perpetrator, the report indicates.

Based on his online updates, Brown had been living in Dubai for several period. In a update after the incident, Brown said he was protecting himself because he was “assaulted by numerous persons who attempted to steal my jewelry and cause bodily injury to me.”

A category two murder attempt charge in the state of Florida carries a maximum 15-year prison penalty and up to a ten thousand dollar fee in the case of a finding.

Brown has faced numerous legal challenges over the time. He previously had been charged of assault of a vehicle operator, multiple domestic violence charges, inability to pay parental support and other events.

In a 2021 season match with his team against the Jets, Brown stripped off his uniform, equipment and accessories and ran off the field, resulting in his release by the team and virtually concluding his football career.

Brown, who completed a dozen years in the league, was an elite player who passed most of his tenure with Pittsburgh. For his professional life, Brown had nine hundred twenty-eight grabs for more than twelve thousand two hundred ninety-one gains, the twenty-eighth most of record. He was a seven-time all-star pick.
