Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hard courts

A revitalized Medvedev secured his initial trophy for nearly 30 months with victory over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a difficult period, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and experiencing a meltdown at the US Open.

His varied form on the professional circuit - and issues with his serve in specific - led to him falling of the top ten and finally separating with long-term trainer his previous coach.

Presently training with his coach and his other coach, Medvedev has consistently progressed in the last few weeks - peaking in a closely contested competitive triumph over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This represents the player's maiden championship following the Italian tournament and first on a hard surface since spring of that year.

Victory also signifies the Russian has achieved twenty-one titles at twenty-one different events.

"It's the first time I'm at a event with my two daughters at once, so to secure a title is especially meaningful," said world number 14 the champion.

"This victory is in tribute of my second daughter her name, because the initial championship I achieved when my older daughter her name was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had lost his last six championship matches, including in Halle in the past months.

Medvedev's counter-punching approach and regular reactions on the playing surface had caused some to wonder if his capacity to perform at the highest level was over.

However the athlete has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to advance forward and compete positively, supported by an improved serve.

The champion came back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the difficult Frenchman, securing 4 of the concluding five points to take the lead.

Both players traded breaks in the second set before Moutet, bidding for his initial tour title, seized the initiative to create a third set.

The opponent defended four early-game opportunities in a tight deciding set before the Russian won the break to 15 to serve for the match.

Appropriately, he clinched the win with a shot at the net area, with his opponent incapable to control a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
