Roughly 50 automobiles have been marked with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to police.
Vehicles, building surfaces and mailboxes were defaced, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they reported in a statement.
Police state they were alerted during the night on Wednesday night, when a individual observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored substance.
The substance had been applied in the form of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Police then discovered numerous other marked cars and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under legislation outlawing the public display of Nazi symbols.
Officials report early analysis suggest the liquid was most likely human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no clue as to its source; investigators are currently not informed of any harm in association with the event," they commented.
Municipal representatives said they were attempting "to resolve the case" and have asked to the residents for information.
An important official commented the incident made him speechless and had to be resolved promptly.
"This incident hits the center of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the far-right violent incident in 2020," he posted on online, referring to the death of nine victims by a shooter targeting people of immigrant origin in 2020.
